Los Angeles Lemon Law
The Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, commonly referred to as the California Lemon Law, was enacted to provide relief to buyers of problematic vehicles. In general, the California Lemon Law applies to vehicles which suffer from a defect which the dealerships are unable to repair within the warranty period after having been given a reasonable number of attempts. For vehicles that qualify, the auto manufacturer must refund the buyer's money, payoff the outstanding loan or lease, and take the vehicle back.
California's Lemon Law also requires that the car manufacturer pay for the claimant's attorney fees on a successful claim. This makes the California Lemon Law economically feasible for Los Angeles residents who would otherwise not be able to hire a lawyer.
